Summer Learning Academy Extern

May - August 2020 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

This externship was self-paced and was compromised of business acumen courses, AT&T trainings, and networking events. It was the perfect opportunity for this summer, as my original internship was cancelled due to COVID. AT&T anticipated this loss for students and provided an exceptional program for us to continue learning and gaining experience during such an unprecedented time.

Extern

July - August 2020 • Houston, TX

What I liked

I enjoyed that the externship allowed me to participate without the need to leave my home and risk catching coronavirus.

What I wish was different

The externship focused mainly on presentations. I felt that the information would have been more impactful if the participation component was not so minimal.

Advice

The best way to experience an AT&T externship is to show up on time and ask questions. The more you can speak to the presenter, the more you can understand how their presentation applies to the real world.

Cyber security Intern

May - August 2020 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

I enjoyed the networking opportunity as well as learning about how cyber security is growing in a corporate setting.

What I wish was different

AT&T was pretty good on transitioning to a remote setting but getting that initial set process done was a hassle.

Advice

A remote internship is definitely different from an in person one, but one thing I do strongly encourage is to keep in constant communication with not only your team/coworkers but your professional network as well.

AT&T Sale Representative

July - August 2019 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

Pay and skills to work with customers.

What I wish was different

Better management because if there was, I would have stayed.

Advice

I think overall, AT&T is a great place to work if you feel like you can do sales. It's hard, but rewarding. Just make sure the location you get is not understaffed because mine was and it made everything worse because the manager didn't help much.

AT&T General Intern

June - August 2020 • El Segundo, CA

What I liked

I really enjoyed my internship experience with AT&T. I had the opportunity to learn more about the company and gain hands on experience. I also got the opportunity to network with other interns and executives within AT&T.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had the opportunity to go to the actual work site. I didn’t have this opportunity since we were in the middle of a pandemic.

Advice

I would tell everyone to network and take advantage of everything that your internship offers. Even though we were in a pandemic I still took advantage of all of the opportunities offered by AT&T and I had a great summer experience.

I loved that some presentations were live, and others were available to be reviewed at your own pace. I especially enjoyed learning about how technicians set up the internet at from to how annual budgeting meetings are conducted.

I would have loved for this to be an in person opportunity. I would have allowed more hands on learning, in all areas of the company.

Advice

What I liked

I learned things that I'll never learn in school. A lot of personal development stuff!

AT&T Externship

July - August 2020 • Bay City, MI

What I liked

I enjoyed the experience to grow my Business Acumen with a well known company. AT&T focuses on real life concerns in and out of the business world such as diversity and inclusion all while growing their company in a sustainable way. It helped to reinforce the concept that while profit is important for a company, its not always the bottom line.

What I wish was different

I wish the program was more interactive and sensitive to varying schedules. I wasn't able to participate in any of the live events due to my schedule and it was a bummer.

Advice

No one is monitoring you for completion. You must be dedicated to your own education and set a goal of completion if you want the badge from Credly Acclaim.
