Public Affairs and Social Media Internship

Internship Description
Fertility Within Reach is a non-profit organization that advocates for fertility health benefits at the individual, professional, and legislative levels. This internship is focused on increasing our engagement and maintaining our presence on our various social media platforms and our website. The intern will work with the communications committee to understand Fertility Within Reach’s mission and create content which aligns with the mission. At this position, interns will gain skills and experience in non-profit work by managing the following responsibilities:
  • Updating the social media accounts with fresh content to improve engagement and outreach
  • Conducting research to find articles and stories relevant to Fertility Within Reach’s mission and vision and posts on our social media platforms to invite conversation and interaction 
  • Monitoring and replying to conversations/interactions 
  • Handling online inquiries appropriately and direct to appropriate FWR employee or Board Member for handling 
  • Updating and growing the email contact list
  • Tracking social media interaction and follower growth 
  • Providing communication team with monthly updates 
  • Providing assistance with events and/or fundraisers 
  • Contributing to the team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  • Aid in the development and distribution of press releases

Non-profit work is exciting and dynamic. The responsibilities of this internship may shift with the direction of our marketing and media initiatives as we are constantly developing new ideas to aid our cause and new responsibilities and projects become available regularly. 


Eligibility Requirements 
  • Creative self-starter with a passion for empowering and advocating for family building access
  • Experience with social media platforms
  • Experience with digital editing software, Canva preferred 
  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with the team
  • Be flexible and willing to take on other tasks in this start-up environment
  • Have own computer and access to internet 
  • Available for minimum of 10 hours per week 

Location
Due to COVID-19, this internship will begin remotely. If circumstances change, this internship can include in-person work as well. We can provide a stipend to cover any travel and work-related expenses. 

Schedule 
This is a semester-long unpaid position at a minimum of 10 hours per week. Given the intern’s interest and availability, the internship can continue for a second semester or a summer term.
