Systems Analyst
The Systems Analyst at Children's Home Society of NC defines and manages how data will be stored, consumed, and utilized by various programs and departments within Children's Home Society of NC. This person will build complex computer database systems for the agency and work with various programs who will access and use the data. Responsibilities include providing direction to the Analytics and Quality Improvement Team to ensure that databases have integrated and appropriate access across subject areas and are easily accessible, understandable, and usable by the end user. The Systems Analyst will also perform hands-on analysis from a technical perspective to support program staff as appropriate.
This position will be based in Greensboro, NC but we are open to remote work status from any location in North Carolina.
Area of Responsibility
Research and Evaluation:
Serve as a subject matter expert in the technical design and implementation of data system projects in collaboration with the vendor/implementor, CHS stakeholders, Leadership, and external consultants
Deliver accurate and clear context for organizational leadership and stakeholders on the technical scope of projects
Demonstrate leadership in leveraging technology to support improving CHS program outcomes and other affected agency processes
Gather technical requirements for program data systems, assess vendor capabilities, and analyze findings to provide appropriate and best solution recommendations (e., Cloud hosting or local system) and adoption strategy
Research, analyze, recommend, and select technical approaches for solving complex development and data integration problems
Understand the organizational drivers and determine the best currently industry-standard solutions and translate these to data services and engineering solutions
Explore new technologies and learn new techniques to offer creative solutions to agency challenges
Database administration
Technical Implementation and Support:
Facilitate effort to determine the best solution for storing and connecting datasets from various sources to allow for analysis across programs; provide recommendations and support implementor (internal or vendor) to develop and implement
Ensure user and data security across all CHS program-related data system This will encompass both user access security and ensuring / monitoring ongoing data security.
Troubleshoot data performance, data integrity, and data quality issues from a technical perspective across all CHS data sys Includes enforcing rules in data entry areas (i.e., forms) to preventing entry of invalid data to improving technical performance of data access and reporting processes.
SupportSystem Administrator for administering Echo, DocuSign, Binti, and other organizational data syste Includes providing backup support and helping automate and simplify administrative tasks where possible.
Provide Tier 2 support for Echo, DocuSign, Binti, Salesforce, and other organizational data systems
Work with IT Director to determine appropriate insourcing and outsourcing of technical projects
Provide technical support and consulting to the Analytics and Quality Improvement team
Provide as-needed guidance to various designated Staff System Leads for assistance around data access, user permission levels, and data visibility to end-users
Provide as-needed guidance to designated Staff System Leads for basic end-user administrations
Additional duties may be assigned as needed
General
Display sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
Perform other duties related to department goals and projects as needed
Maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license, adequate auto insurance, and have access to an operating vehicle in order to attend to CHS business
Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in MS SQL Server, MS-SSRS, T-SQL, and knowledge of other database technologies
Data export/import scripting in Python, R, Julia, or a comparable language or tool
Ability to review and understand existing systems to extract requested information for end-users or co-implementors
Solid understanding of data connectors between applications (ODBC, JDBC, etc.) as well as TDS, JSON, and XML
Demonstrated expertise in at least one front-end reporting tool for paginated and/or dashboard reports
Basic understanding of underlying server operating systems
Basic understanding of network communication technology stack
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong documentation skills for end-user instructions
Ability to work within a team to deliver services to end-users
Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Dynamic troubleshooting skills for testing existing and new systems during and after implementation
At least a 2-year degree or equivalent experience in a related field
Low physicality needed - ability to talk, sit at desk, manipulate a keyboard
