Entry Level Compliance Engineer - Safety and Industrial Health

Are you passionate about the safety and want to work in beautiful Upstate New York? The Kesselring Site is conveniently located 20 minutes from historic downtown Saratoga Springs, 30 minutes from the six million acre Adirondack Park, and a three hour drive from New York City, Montreal, and Boston!

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory, a global company who supports the World's Best Navy, is looking to expand their Safety and Health team. We are seeking an entry level engineer with interest or experience with safety regulations who is willing to join a dynamic workplace and a great team. Our challenging work involves a combination of field surveillances, technical support during work planning and execution, and engineering reviews of procedures and work documents.

What Do We Do?
  • Develop and/or follow programs or projects to ensure compliance with operational, design, regulatory, and Program requirements. Examples include performing work document reviews, engineering evaluations, or analyses to support assigned tasks.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in regulated areas associated with safety and health to support safe and compliant execution of work activities.
  • Provide interface, independent oversight, and assessment of NNL, subcontractor, and vendor facility operations, material evaluations, design reviews, development of engineering methods, major site system and facility operations.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports to meet regulatory and Program requirements, evaluate and assess site performance, perform surveillances, clarify and implement regulatory requirements, prepare, review and approve technical work procedures and identify improvements to existing processes.
  • Lead or support inspections and interfaces with regulatory agencies.

Required Skills *

Associate:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university

Intermediate:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
  • Master’s degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience; or
  • Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
  • SRE Qualification

Preferred Skills

The ideal candidate will posses some or all of the following skills and experience:
  • Understanding of applicable safety standards, such as OSHA and ANSI standards, with a strong attention to detail, as well as experience determining application of standards to operational processes and new designs. 
  • Experience in assessing the compliance status of ongoing work tasks.
  • Ability to work with production and engineering organizations to ensure compliance while operating efficiently and with a continuous improvement mindset. 
  • Ability to work in a multi-organizational, fast-paced environment with potential to respond to emergent requests and situations.
